Base-Ball.

BEACONS, 3; HARVARD, 8.

Yesterday afternoon the Beacons played their first game of the season with the Harvards. A small audience witnessed a rather uninteresting game in which Harvard was successful by a score of 8 to 3. The Beacons did not score until the ninth inning, when singles by Richardson and Frederick, and an error gave them three runs.

In the second inning, hits by Allen and Edgerly yielded Harvard a run. In the third, Smith made a home run, and in the fourth two more runs were added on hits by Foster and Smith, aided by two errors. Another home run was made by Henshaw in the sixth. Willard's single and Foster's three-bagger brought in a run in the seventh, and two more runs were added in the eighth.

Harvard played a strong game at the bat and in the field. The best fielding was done by Henshaw and Wiestling. Richardson's finger was injured in the seventh, and he changed places with Lloyd.
