To-morrow is a field day for the crimson on the water as well as on the land. The University crew will prove its powers in the Columbia race, and show the college what the long months of training have accomplished. That the "veritable Samsons," as the New London newspapers call them, will come out of the contest with new laurels we firmly believe, for the Columbia stroke is an essentially weak one. For this reason, although Columbia often has better material in her boat than her opponents, she has seldom rowed a successful race. As for the races of next week, we feel confident that they will also be won by our crews, although their opponents are very formidable. We take this last opportunity amid the "rush of waiters and the crush of girls," to offer once more our thanks to Captain Mumford and Captain Storrow for their pains-taking work with the crew during the past year. They have gone, bearing our hopes with them; we feel sure that they will not be disappointed.

To-day is our last chance to speak words of encouragement to the nine, which we trust will to-morrow make one more step toward gaining the baseball championship for Harvard. That they will strain every nerve to defeat the only opponents who stand between us and victory, every man in college knows. Thousands of eyes will be turned on the nine to-morrow, and cheers from countless throats will show the good will and enthusiasm of the spectators.

We look with pride on the successes which all our athletic teams have won for the university. But none awaken such enthusiasm as do those of the base-ball nine. The appearance of the field with its thronged seats, the gymnasium and the venerable college buildings in the distance, is in itself enough to inspire those who will represent Harvard to-morrow. But much can be done towards making the sight fairer and more encouraging by having the college colors displayed in every part of the field. We hope to see every man carry quantities of crimson to Holmes Field and wave it there right lustily.
