The lacrosse team left last night for its inter-collegiate matches in New York.

The lecture in N. H. 5 will be given on Friday next, at 2 p.m., instead of Wednesday at that hour.

Smith, Yale '86, won the half mile run in the Nassau Athletic games, with a record of 2 m. 6 1-2 sec.

The batting average of the Harvard nine for the two championship games is .466, Henshaw's alone being 1.000.

The current number of The Academy contains a very interesting article on "Electives at Harvard" by Dr. Bacon.

The nine to-day will be the same as in the first game with Williams.

Last evening a meeting of candidates for the foot ball team was held. About twenty five men appeared.

In the New York-Harvard lacrosse match the first goal for Harvard was thrown by Dudley, the second by Blodgett and the third by Hood.

There will be no more lectures in N. H. 4 on Fridays. A lecture for advance work will be held at 4 p.m. next Wednesday. The reading course will meet for review on Monday, at 4 p.m.

The third game in the 'Amateur' series is scheduled for 10.30 this morning. The Butterfingers will meet the CRIMSON. Players will report on Jarvis at 10 15 sharp.

In a practice trial yesterday, Wright, '86, walked 1.5 of a mile in 1m. 6s., with Bemis close behind him. The time of both men beats the best amateur record for the distance.

Bates, Bingham, Bosworth, Case, Jennings, J. D. Merrill, J. W. Merrill, Moore, Thurber, and Watson are the first ten of the Everett Athenaeum from '89. elected at the meeting of the society last evening.

Diamond Dust. - A note from the managers of the Bessies has been received at this office, in which the statement that this nine had disbanded is declared a malicious falsehood. The Bessies, it is said, will fill all their dates for the championship and exhibition games.
