We publish with pleasure the reply of the Spirit of the Times to our editorial of April 17th. We do so with greater pleasure, because that paper has put itself still further in the wrong by its cheap bombast and ridiculous patronage. In the first place we did not claim to be criticising the editorial columns of the Spirit, as reference to our columns of April 17th will show. In the second place, the article which we did criticise was not under the head of correspondence, nor did it have the name of a correspondent attached to it. There was simply a quotation from the CRIMSON, under a "displayed" head, with the comments underneath to which we took exceptions.
As this is evidently the work of the paste-pot editor, we would suggest that the Spirit hunt up another man for the position, and be careful to get one who can read ordinary English aright, and one too, who is not so bigoted that he thinks a man incapable of common sense simply because he is a college undergraduate.
