The petitions for voluntary prayers have passed through one more stage of their existence. Ten days ago the Corporation read the petitions and sent them to the Overseers without taking any action. Yesterday the Overseers received the petitions, and postponed consideration of them for one week. Now that all the usual resorts in the conducting of important business have been tried, it is fair to expect that some action will be taken at the adjourned meeting next week. At least, it is likely that a committee will be appointed. Further, it is not in our power to prophecy.
