The Historical Society has succeeded in obtaining for the college and Cambridge public a series of four lectures which promise to be of unusual interest. This course will embrace the discussion of prominent war topics, by Southern officers. The first lecture will be given in Sanders Theatre, next Monday evening, by Colonel Hotchkiss, who served during the entire war as general topographical engineer for the Confederate forces. His official position brought him into intimate association with General Lee, as well as other Southern leaders. His views, therefore, will be of something more than usual importance. The same can be said of the other lecturers. Col. Allen, who will give the second lecture, held an official position on Lee's staff. Since the war he has been the military correspondent of the New York Nation. The other lecturers will be the subject of future comment. We congratulate the Historical Society on the presentation of a course of lectures. which promises both qualification and instruction.
