Cycling, so dull at Harvard College last season as to be virtually dead, will be worse than ever in 1886. The members take no interest in the affairs of the club, and but one cyclist is in training for the races at Mott Haven. - Boston Herald.

The above clipping plainly shows that the knowledge of the "Ebb and Decline of Bicycling at Harvard" is not confined to the college alone. When a sport, so prominent in English universities and on the increase there and in this country, has come to such a point as this, it is time that something was done; either it must be dropped altogether, or elevated to the position where it belongs. It is a deplorable fact that, among the candidates for the Mott Haven team, there is not one man trying for the bicycle race. Last year there was but one representative in the race at Mott Haven, and he was badly handicapped by having no men to train with. A man must have men to compete with when training for this race, in order to be successful. Riding against time, and riding a winning race against six or eight men, are two different things. There are several men now in college who could do well in bicycling racing if they should try. It is barely possible that unless some new men come forward, Harvard will have no representative in this event at Mott Haven.
