PROFESSOR LANCIANI'S LECTURE.A course of eleven lectures on Roman Archaeology was begun by Professor Rodolfo Lanciani, LL.D., of Rome, on Wednesday, November 17, in Sanders Theatre. The lectures are attractively illustrated with stereopticon views. The subjects of the remaining lectures are as follows: -
Dec. 20, Monday. The Discovery of the House of the Vestals.
Dec. 22, Wednesday. Treasures found in the Excavations.
ASSYRIAN ARCHAEOLOGY.During January Dr. Arthur L. Frothingham of Princeton will deliver a series of five lectures on Assyrian Archaeology. The dates fixed are the 10th, 12th, 18th, 24th, and 26th. The first lecture will be devoted to the earlier archaeological discoveries concerning Babylonia and Assyria: the second to recent discoveries and present theories regarding the philology, ethnography, and literature of the Assyrians. The third and fourth will outline the history of Babylonian and Assyrian Art, and the-fifth the foreign relations of Babylonia and Assyria. The lectures will be given in upper Boylston, and will be illustrated with stereopticon views. The public is invited.

ENGLISH B.A lecture will be given in Sever 11 on Tuesday. Dec, 21, at two o'clock. Subject: The Art of Narrative, concluded.
Theme IV. will be returned to students on Tuesday, December 21, from 3 until 4 o'clock, as follows: Albee to Odell in Sever 5; Packard to Zinkeisen in Sever 1.
Themes not called for at this time will be left, at the students' risk, in the tin box on the mantle-piece in Sever 3.
Theme V. will be due on Tuesday, Dec. 21. It must be deposited in the wooden box in Sever 3 before 4 o'clock. Subject: A Narrative.
At the pleasure of the writer, themes V. and VI. - both narrative - may be continuous; or they may be combined in one theme of at least ten pages, to be handed in at the date fixed for theme V.
A note of the subject of each theme, on a card specially prepared for the purpose, must be deposited in the wooden box in Sever 3 at least one week before the theme is due. A card will be found enclosed in every theme returned to students.
By the Regulation, no overdue theme will be accepted, unless the writer satisfies the Secretary that his failure to present it at the appointed time was caused by serious illness or other unavoidable hindrance. Overdue themes, countersigned by the Secretary, may be left at 18 Grays.
