Cambridge seemed more forlorn to the few hopeless wretches who were conscientious enough to remain here Thanksgiving than perhaps ever before in its history.

Harvard has during the past few days become more than ever the centre of the American College World. There may be many who criticise her methods and there may be justice in the arguments which they put forward, but nothing but praises should be heard while the Alma Mater of so many distinguished men gathers her college children together and celebrates an event which is of prime importance in the college history of America. - Pennsylvanian.

Attention is called to the fact that the Cobden Club, of England, offer a silver medal, under the auspices of the Harvard Finance Club, to any present under-graduate of Harvard College for the best essay on some economic subject. For the year 1886-7 the following subjects are suggested: - 1, The duties on wool and woolens; 2, Shall the state assume the control of the railways?; 3, The effect of the legal tender quality on the value of paper money; 4, Profit sharing.

The Harvard Assemblies for 1886-7 will be held in Berkely Hall, Boston, on the evenings of December 16, January 12, February 10, and April 14. The managers are Messrs. D. W. Bowles, T. P. Burgess, F. Remington and G. Dexter.
