We will soon publish a full account of the work of the anniversary committee in preparation for the approaching anniversary. The whole work was found to be so onerous that it was divided up among sub-committees. The report of the literary committee has already been rendered and accepted. That of the other committees will follow. The duties which devolved upon the committee with respect to the torchlight procession were so great that a sub-committee of thirteen was put in charge, and it is in their behalf that we desire to speak. Each class is to wear a distinctive uniform, and will present various additional features in the way of explaining the history of the college. Each man who cares to do so, is invited to prepare a transparency or special feature illustrative of some period of the university history, and carry it in the procession. All who have ideas upon the subject are requested to communicate with Mr. George B. Leighton, secretary of the torchlight committee. It is desirable that as many transparencies and special features as possible may be prepared. Every department of the university will be represented, and it is therefore possible to make the procession a success in every sense of the word. At the semi-millenial anniversary at Heidelberg, the special features of the procession of students provoked worldwide comment. There were several bands of mounted Knights in armor, together with many group tableaux. It is proposed in the present case to prepare special features to be transported on trucks, and that the endeavor may be successful all are invited to contribute their time, money, and - brains. If the student body could once appreciate the mass of work thrown upon the shoulders of their committee, there is little doubt but that many men would volunteer to aid in the work. What is wished is, that the university shall feel pledged to the unequivocal success of the entire demonstration. If this feeling of personal interest is once aroused, there will be no question of the support to be relied upon, - every student will feel called upon to take part. Further comment will be made upon the publication of the committee's report.
