We wish to call the attention of the bicyclists in college to the fact that the officers of the Bicycle Club desire to hold a race-meeting this spring, and earnestly hope that a large number of men will signify their willingness to enter in one or more events in the races, it fact, it will be impossible to have any races this spring, unless, a large number of men come forward from the college, for the Bicycle Club is not allowed this year, as in years past, to invite to the race riders who are not college men. Last year, men like Hendee and Frazier were invited, and a splended exhibition of riding was given at the spring races, but this year the contestants must be college men. There is no reason, however, why we should not have an excellent race among college men, if the riders here take hold of the matter with interest, and the number of entries are large. In case enough entries are made to hold the races at all, no rider, we hope, will keep out on account of modesty with regard to the slow time he fears he will make, for several events will probably be filled with men who have never made anything like a brilliant record. Invitations have been sent to riders at Yale and Brown, and to two or three other colleges, we believe, but no definite replies have been received as yet. With a few of the best riders from other colleges, and a large representation from Harvard, the meeting would undoubtedly be interesting, and would call out a large enough attendance of spectators to place the Bicycle Club in a very satisfactory financial condition. We sincerely hope that enough interest will be taken by the riders of the college to insure that there with be a race, and a large number of contestants in it.
