The college department of the International Young Men's Christian Association committee has received an appeal for recognition and sympathy from an association organized in Jaffua College, Ceylon. It is the first association of Christian students in heathen lands to enter the Union.
It has been suggested that some method be found of holding the tug-of-war rope down without the necessity of one or even two men standing on it. Also if some machine could be made so as to prevent one team from pulling the ribbon on their side before the start, it would ensure a fair drop for both sides. The invention of such a machine ought not to be a difficult task, and it would facilitate matters greatly at the winter meetings.
