A stated meeting of the overseers of Harvard College was held yesterday forenoon, Judge Hoar presiding. A new statute was substituted for the present one prescribing the duties of registrar. The committee on elections reported Alexander Agassiz, John T. Morse, Jr., Edwin P. Seaver, John Fiske and George O. Shattuck as having been elected members of the board for 6 years, and Roger Wolcott for 4 years. The following reappointments were concurred in: Edward Channing, Ph. D., instructor in history; Benjamin M. Watson, A. B., in horticulture; Nathaniel Thayer Kidder, A. B., in botany; Charles H. Williams, M. D., in opathalmology; Hollis Webster, A. B., in botany; also appointing the following for 1885-6: Edward K. Dunham, Ph. B., instructor in histology; Eugene H. Babbitt in German; George Batchelor, A. M., lecturer on the ethics of the New Testament. Henry Dixon Jones, A. B., was appointed instructor in elocution. The visiting committees of the board were appointed for the current year.
