Saturday's game was played before a large audience who came in anticipation of a close and exciting game. In this, however they were disappointed, as the contest was very one sided. Dartmouth won the toss and Harvard went to the bat. Coolidge led off with a base hit between third and shortstop. Baker made another, sending him to second base. Phillips followed with a clean hit over McCarthy's head, bringing in Coolidge and sending Baker to second, and both men took another base on the attempt to catch Coolidge at the plate. Tilden took first on seven balls. With the bases full, Nichols knocked a high fly to Fellows, which was muffed, and Baker scored. Phillips and Tilden taking third and second bases respectively. LeMoyne flied out to Fellows and Phillips scored; Allen hit a "pop" fly to F. Nettleton, who let the ball drop to the ground and then threw to third base forcing out Tilden. Springfield tried to catch Winslow at the plate but threw way over Thomas' head giving Smith third base. Coolidge came to the bat for the second time this inning and made a splendid three-base hit in left field bringing in Smith. Baker went out McCarthy to Hale. Total, 7 runs.

Nettleton started home, but Phillips threw to Allen and he turned back. Allen threw back to Phillips, and after a good deal of throwing to and for Phillips threw to Nichols, who touched Nettleton out. Hale took second during this play and went to third on a wild pitch, but Chellis strike out leaving him on base. Second inning. Phillips flied out to Springfield. Tilden made a two-base hit to right field, but the next two men went out, leaving him on base. For Dartmouth, after two men were out, Weeks made a base hit and stole second, but was left there as F. Nettleton struck out. Allen opened the third inning with a base hit and took second on another by Winslow. Smith hit a ground ball to Chellis, who touched second and threw to first base, making a neat double play, while Allen went to third. Coolidge, however, went out by G. Nettleton to Hale, leaving Allen on base. For Dartmouth, Thomas took first base on balls and scored on a passed ball. G. Nettleton struck out. Springfield struck three times, but Allen dropped the ball and threw him out at first base. Thomas started for third and Smith threw wildly to Phillips, and the first run for Dartmouth was scored. Hale flied out to Tilden. Baker opened the fourth inning with a fly to left field, which was muffed. Phillips made a base hit, sending B

Fifth inning. For Harvard, after two men were out, Smith got his base on a muff by McCarthy and was brought in by Coolidge's superb home run hit between left and centre field. Baker flied out to McCarthy. For Dartmouth, F. Nettleton made a base hit; Thomas struck three times but Allen dropped the ball. As Thomas did not start immediately for first base, Allen threw to Coolidge in hope of making a double play. It was too late to catch Nettleton on second, but Coolidge threw to Smith in time to put out Thomas. The next two strikers went out.
Sixth inning. Phillips took his base on G. Nettleton's error and stole second and third; Tilden flied out to Weeks. Nichols hit a hot grounder to McCarthy, who made a pretty stop, and threw home in time to catch Phillips at the plate. Nichols went to second and third on two passed balls and scored on Lemoyne's base hit. Allen hit a grounder to McCarthy, which he failed to stop, and LeMoyne took third base, Allen going to second. Winslow fouled out to Springfield. Dartmouth went out in order. Score, 10 to 1. Smith opened the seventh with a base hit. Ninth inning. Tilden flied out to Fellows; Nichols reached first base on McCarthy's muff and second on LeMoyne's base hit. Allen flied out to Springfield who threw to second in time to catch Nichols, making a fine double play. Dartmouth went out in order, ending the game.
Dartmouth, with the exception of G. Nettleton, played a weak fielding game. They failed to do anything with the bat again, excepting G. Nettleton, who did well.
Harvard played magnificently in the field. Nichols pitched a very fine game, striking out eleven men. He was splendidly supported by Allen. Coolidge also played perfectly at second base. The batting was about as heavy as has ever been seen in an inter-collegiate contest. Coolidge led with a base, single, a three-base hit and a home run. Baker made two singles and a three-base hit, and every man on the nine hit heavily.
