Owing to the coldness of the weather rather a small audience gathered to see the game with Williams yesterday. Those who did come, however, saw a very close and well played game of ball. Williams won the toss and took "outs." For Harvard, Coolidge and Baker flied out respectively to Burden and Stafford, and Phillips struck out. For Williams, Hubbell took two bases on Phillips' wild throw and third on Boyden's wild pitch, but was left there, as Yales went out, Baker to LeMoyne, W. Safford flied out to Keep and P. Blackmer struck out.

In the second inning Tilden led off with a base hit and stole second, but Nichols, LeMoyne and Allen flied out respectively to left, third base and centre, leaving him there. For Williams, after two men were out, J. Safford made a base hit and stole second, but Eastman flied out to Tilden, and he was left.

Boyden opened the third inning by striking out. Keep took first base on a wild throw by J. Safford, but went no farther, as Coolidge and Baker flied out to left and centre field. For Williams, Burden went out on a grounder to LeMoyne; Hubbell made a base hit and stole second. Yales flied out to Baker and W. Safford Struck out, leaving the score 0 to 0 at the end of the third. After two men were out in the fourth, Nichols made a base hit but LeMoyne flied out to left field, leaving him on first. Williams went out in order.

In the fifth inning Allen led off with a safe hit and took second base on another by Boyden. They each took another base on Eastman's passed ball, and scored on Keep's pretty two-base hit. The next two men went out and Keep was caught napping at third. Williams went out in order. Score, Harvard 2, Williams 0.

Sixth inning. Phillips took his base on J. Safford's fumble; Tilden hit to Burden, who threw to J. Safford, the latter throwing to first, making a pretty double play. Nichols reached first base on W. Safford's fumble. LeMoyne, however, flied out to J. Safford. Williams went out in order. In the seventh and eighth both nines retired in order.Ninth inning. Harvard went out in order. For Williams, Hubbell hit safely and stole second base. Yates hit a ground ball to Baker, who fumbled it, giving him his base. W. Safford went out on a foul tip. P. Blackmer hit to Coolidge, who touched his base and threw to first, making a neat double play and leaving the score 2 to 0 in Harvard's favor. The feature of the game was LeMoyne's remarkable playing on first base. Williams fielded well, Hubbell, Eastman and Yates leading. With the exception of Hubbell they were entirely unable to hit either pitcher.

Harvard played a sharp and brilliant game in the field. In the fourth inning Boyden went to centre field and Nichols came in to pitch. Each played finely. Allen's catching was perfect and Coolidge and Baker both did well. Below is the score in full.
