Yesterday afternoon the third competition for the clay pigeon cup was shot at Watertown. The afternoon was favorable for high scoring, and the figures reached in the match give evidence of great improvement on the part of the shot-gun men. The cup goes to Mr. Austin this week on a score of 17 birds out of the 20, the highest score yet attained in this match.

In the last series of competitions, that at glass balls, for the Walnut Hill cup, a silver medal was offered for the second greatest number of matches won. For this prize Messrs. Foster, L. S., and W. L. Allen, '86, were tied. Yesterday this tie was shot off, and Mr. Allen won, breaking 10 out of 15 balls, against Mr. Foster's 9.

A new and interesting event was a match at double balls. This style of shooting has heretofore received no attention at any of the meetings, but it is probable that it will now grow into favor.

The time chosen for the match was rather unfavorable, as most of the freshman members of the club were unwilling to miss the Brown game, and so were unable to be present. The summary follows:

Match 1. 20 clay pigeons, 16 yards rise, thrown at five angles. (Cup match) First, F. B. Austin, 17; second, W. S. Palmer, 13; third, W. H. Slocum, W. L. Allen, 12.

Match 2. 5 glass balls, 18 yards rise. First, Allen, Palmer, 4; second, Austin, Batten, Foster, Slocum, 3.

Match 3-same conditions. First, Palmer, 5; second, Allen, Austin, 4.

Match 4-same conditions. First, Palmer, 5; second, Batten, Foster, 4.

Match 5-same conditions. First, A ustin, Slocum, 5; second, Batten, Palmer, 4.

Match 6. 7 clay pigeons, 16 yards rise. First, Palmer, 7; second, Austin, 6.

Match 7. 8 pairs, double balls. First, Allen, Slocum, 8 balls each.
