Rumor has it that the junior crew will be found in the van.

The University nine will follow the race in a barge.

The Yale nine will witness the race today from the referee's boat.

The nine have received their straw hats from Collins and Fairbanks.

Booth and Souther will probably be Yale's "battery" in the game today.

It is rumored that the senior crew will head the aquatic procession today.

The freshman nine plays at Exeter, Wednesday, the 14th, and at Fitchburg the 17th.

We may confidently predict, that either '84, '85, '86, or '87 has a sure thing on the race.

Tugs will be hired to convey the supporters of the junior and sophomore crews over the course.

Professor Gross, who has been connected with the University of Pennsylvania for many years is dead.

Dr. Chas. H. Williams, '71, captain of the Union Boat Club, will referee the class races today.

If the weather is favorable, we may expect one of the fastest races ever seen on the Charles river.

The following men will probably compose the nine in the game today : Nichols, p. ; Allen, c. ; Smith, 1b. ; Coolidge, 2b. ; Phillips, 3b. ; Baker, s. s. ; LeMoyne, l. f. ; Wipslow. c. f. ; Tilden r. f.

The Amherst men are quite confident of defeating Yale in the championship game.

The drawing for college rooms by sub-freshmen was announced yesterday. The first room drawn was 20 Weld.

It begins to look as though the series of ball games between the Harvard and Yale freshmen will not be played this year.

The diamond on Holmes field has been sodded, but it is doubtful if it can be used this year.

'87 will probably arrange games with Brown and Amherst, '87, from whom challenges have been received.

Cowles, '86, No. 4 of the Yale university crew, has an abscess on his hand, and will not be able to row for two weeks or more.

The first inter-collegiate lacrosse game will take place today between Yale and the University of New York at Hamilton Park.

It is expected that if the crew of the '87 ship keep "fresh" until the end of the race, their chance of gaining renoun will be, at least, good.

On the authority of a prominent '86 boating man, it may be stated that the sophomore boat will occupy an advanced position in the fleet.

Columbia College is to introduce the new feature of a "School of Literary Economy," in which students may qualify themselves to discharge the duties of professional librarians.

It was unfortunate that the game with Bowdoin had to be postponed, as that nine has done some strong work lately, and would have afforded our team excellent practice.

It will be well to remember that some little cheering must be done at the game this afternoon ; undergraduates will accordingly see to it that their vocal strength is not too severely overtaxed at the race.

The nine will play its third championship game with Princeton on Monday, at 4 o'clock. In the evening the Glee Club and brassband will give a concert for the entertainment of the Princeton nine in front of Matthews.

In the game today, the seats to the right of the entrance (around the backstop) will be reserved for ladies and their escorts ; those behind third base for holders of green tickets, which must be shown in every instance.
