Mr. Henry N. Nelson, '80, has been appointed private secretary to Speaker Carlisle.

The University nine has, thus far in the season, made 45 runs, against 2 scored by their opponents.

D. E. White, '85, has been appointed business editor of the Advocate, in place of Mr. Delano, resigned.

The freshman nine will not play today against the technology, but will practice as usual from 1.30 to 3 P. M.

There will be an excursion in N. H. 4 this afternoon, to Waltham. Train leaves Porter's station at 1.33 P. M., returning at 5 P. M.

The result of yesterday's election at Memorial was as follows : Mr. Baldwin, '85, received 443 out of the 473 votes cast, and was elected president. Mr. Merriam, '86, received 354 votes out of 482 cast, and was elected vice-president.

The Mott Haven games and the examination in freshman chemistry are upon the same date, May 24.

All the students who were unable to attend Monday night's performance of "Orpheus and Eurydice," were present Tuesday night.

The shooting club will meet at Watertown this afternoon. Preparations have been made for a very successful shoot, and it is expected that there will be a large attendance.

The first lacrosse game of the season will take place next Saturday, on Jarvis field, at 3 P. M., between the candidates for the American team and Harvard. Admission 25 cents.

At the last meeting of the National Amateur Lacrosse Association, the following clubs were admitted : St. Paul lacrosse club, Philadelphia lacrosse club, and the Druids of Baltimore.

The Harvard Union meets tonight in Sever for the last time this year. The meeting is called for the purpose of nominating presidential candidates. At the close of the meeting the result of the college presidential canvass will be announced.
