As complaints are always made that every thing taught at Harvard is the oratorical rather than practical, a new course projected by the chemistry department will be received with pleasure by the advocates of practical education. The course is to be one in technical or economic chemistry, and is to be devoted entirely to technical work. The work of this character now belonging to chemistry I., is to be taken from that course and incorporated in the new course. Chemistry I. will therefore be entirely theoretical, consisting largely of lectures, and will be of special importance as an introductory course for those men who wish to make a thorough study of the science. The new course, if given, will undoubtedly be a very useful and popular one. We hope that the committee on electives will decide to put the course in the elective pamphlet for next year. Professor H. B. Hill will probably conduct the course.
