Monday evening most of the crew men, and many other members of the college, were present at the Foresters Fair, to look after Capt. Flanders' interests in the shell. From 10 o'clock on the voting was very lively, and there was much excitement. At 11 o'clock the voting ceased and they began to count the votes. Vague rumors of a large majority kept floating around the room until at twenty minutes to twelve it was officially announced that Captain Flanders had won the shell by over 1300 majority. After several three times three's had been given, the crew lowered the shell from its position above the stage, and carried it triumphantly out of the hall. The crowd then bore it up Chapel street on their shoulders, and once around the campus, singing and cheering. The boat was then placed in the gymnasium and the crowd dispersed. [Yale News.
