The lecture which will be given this evening by Edmund W. Gosse, Esq., of Cambridge University, England, deserves to be attended by a large and appreciative audience. The students of Harvard seldom have the opportunity of hearing the noted lecturers who come to this country; but when such opportunity is offered, everyone should avail himself of it, and not let the occasion slip by. The Historical society, one of the few live societies of the college, has shown commendable activity in making all the arrangements for this lecture. To this society we owe whatever pleasure and instruction we may receive from this evening's entertainment, which we hope will be followed by other lectures throughout the winter of an equally interesting character.
