We wish to call the attention of the college to the debates held under the auspices of the Union. It is apparently only curiosity that induces the students at various times to fill the hall, while there are long periods of an attendance so slender that it is a reproach to the college. We should not consider the Union as a place of amusement, but as a source of one of the most important courses of training offered by the college curriculum. We cannot rate too high the power of properly expressing an idea in public, and a debating society is a means of education which is too often neglected.
