Since the Columbia-Harvard freshmen series of races were arranged, Harvard had been victorious three times and Columbia twice. Last year victory went to Columbia. Therefore this may be looked upon as Harvard's year, and the class of '88 is expected to be instrumental in winning a victory for itself and for the whole college. It can do it, if every fair-sized man is willing to learn to row and if work is begun immediately. From so large a class a large number of candidates may be expected at the meeting this evening. In his communication of today, to which we refer all our readers, Capt. Storrow says that fifteen men is not too large a number to begin with and that a full year's work in necessary in order to train a new crew. As the university crew will be entirely recast this year, there is room for a promising candidate from '88. This should be an additional incentive to all men of that class to undergo careful work.
