The nine played its second championship game with Princeton on Saturday, and was defeated by the above score. Harvard won the toss and sent Princeton to the bat. Wilson, Clark and Harlan hit to Baker and were thrown out at first. Coolidge opened the first inning for Harvard with a base hit, Baker followed with a hit allowing Coolidge to score the first run. Smith went out on a fly to Wilson, and Lovering and Nichols struck out. In the second inning Princeton was again retired in one, two, three order. Beaman made a hit but was left on first base. Harlan made a hit in the third inning, and Antrim hit to Baker, who threw Harlan out at second; Edwards hit to Beaman, who threw Antrim out at second. Wilson hit to Coolidge, who assisted him out at first. For Harvard, Coolidge hit to Harlan, who threw him out at first. Baker got first on an error of Edwards, and stole second, and Smith got his base on balls. Lovering made a hit which advanced Baker to third and Smith to second. Smith was caught napping at second and thrown out by Harlan, after which Nichols struck out. In the fourth inning Clark made a home run. J. S. Harlan made a hit and stole second. Moffat went out on a fly to Coolidge. Wadleigh hit to Baker and was thrown out at first, while Harlan went to third. Shaw went out on a fly to Smith. Harvard was retired in one, two, three order. In the fifth inning both sides were retired in one, two, three order. In the next inning Wilson got his base on Coolidge's error, and stole second. Clark went out on a fly to Crocker. Wilson soon went to third and scored on Harlan's hit. Moffat hit to Baker who threw Harlan out at second; Moffat stole second and scored on Wadleigh's hit. Shaw made a hit on which Wadleigh scored, as Nichols had the ball knocked out of his hand in attempting to put Wadleigh out at the home plate. Harlan and Antrim were given their base on balls, but Edwards struck out. Smith struck out and Lovering was put out at first, assisted by third base. Nichols made a home run which was as hard a hit as any made on the grounds this year. Allen made a hit, and Crocker was thrown out at first on a hit to Harlan. Wilson got his base on balls in the seventh inning. Clark went out on a fly to Baker, Harlan made a hit and Wilson scored. Moffat went to first on Allen's error and Harlan went to third. Wadleigh hit to Beaman, who threw Harlan out at home. Shaw struck out, retiring in order. Beaman went out on a foul bound to John Harlan. LeMoyne made a hit and stole second. Coolidge hit to third and was put out at first. LeMoyne went to third. Baker got his base on Wilson's error and LeMoyne scored. Baker stole second, but was left there as Smith went out on a fly to Wilson. In the eighth inning both sides were retired without a man reaching first. Wilson and Clark both made hits in the ninth, but were thrown out by Nichols in attempting to steal second. J. S. Harlan struck out. Crocker reached first on J. S. Harlan's error, and stole second. Beaman hit to Antrim and was thrown out at first. Crocker went to third. LeMoyne went out on a fly to J. S. Harlan, and Coolidge on a fly to Wadleigh. Baker played a very fine game at short, accepting all of the nine chances offered him. Nichols caught well behind the bat, stopping several very wildly pitched balls. Harvard, '86, nine; Phillips Andover Academy, five.The freshmen defeated the Phillips Andover Academy nine, at Andover on Saturday, in a very poor fielding game. The chief feature of the game was the pitching of Chamberlain, only one hit being made off his delivery. He was, however, unfortunate in making his first error of the season, outside of bases on balls. For Harvard, Austin and Kimball led in fielding, Kimball in batting. For Andover, Vinton pitched effectively, and made the only hit of his side. The following is the score:
