One of the few unpleasant features of the class days of the past has been the presence of undesirable persons in the yard. It has been the constant aim of all class-day committees to keep the yard as free from outsiders as possible and to have it especially reserved for the seniors and their friends. In former years, however, it has always been possible to purchase yard tickets in the stores outside the square, and even Sanders and Memorial tickets were to be had. The probable reason for this has been that the members of the class who did not wish to make use of a full package of tickets, not being allowed to purchase less than a package, always had a number of superfluous tickets which they felt compelled to dispose of in any way that they could discover. A few men also sold their extra tickets at speculator's prices. This practice, however, we believe was confined to a few men. In the majority of cases the tickets got into the hands of outsiders merely through the carelessness or good nature of those seniors who did not wish all the tickets in a package. Last year the class day committee of '82 in their anxiety to keep the yard free from outsiders and keep the tickets out of the hands of speculators privately bought up all tickets which they could find on sale. In spite of their endeavor, however, they were unable to gain possession of all the tickets. The class day committee of '83 have announced that they will repurchase at fair rates any tickets which the members of the senior class cannot use. To keep down the number of such cases as much as possible the committee first gave seniors the opportunity of purchasing less tickets than are in a package. But few men, however, took advantage of this offer. But in case any member wishes to dispose of his extra tickets now, the committee earnestly requests that he will sell them only to members of his own class or to the committee. In this way only can class day be made a success, and every senior owes it to his class that he heartily support the efforts of the class day committee.
