Princeton College has just received a gift of $60,000 as an endowment for a new School of Art.

President White of Cornell recently declined an appointment by Gov. Cleveland as civil service commissioner, on account of pressing studies.

The Columbia-Yale lacrosse match did not come off Wednesday as expected, Columbia telegraphing that the result would be a foregone conclusion, and desiring to forfeit the game.

Men who have signed to go to New Haven tomorrow with the freshman nine are requested to pay for their tickets at Bartlett's today at 11 o'clock, as the manager of the nine must advance the money at the railroad office before procuring the tickets.

President Bartlett is reported as saying that the graduation of Daniel Webster at Dartmouth, was one of the worst things that ever happened to the college, because every student of low standing referred to him as one of his kind who afterward rose to eminence.

The cricket team leaves next Wednesday night by the Fall River line for New York. The first game will be played in that city with the Columbia College men on Thursday, and on Friday and Saturday games will be played with the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia.
