The Pi Eta theatricals for the benefit of the boat club will probably be given Thursday, April 26th.

Mr. A. L. Hodges, '83, will read an essay on Anacreon in Sever 30 on Saturday morning at 11 o'clock.

The University nine will play the John L. Whiting nine of Boston Thursday of this week and Tuesday of next week.

The nine will play a game with the J. L. Whiting nine on Jarvis Field, on Thursday, April 19th. Game called at 4 P. M.

James Robinson, the trainer, is soon to leave Columbia and will go to Princeton, where he has been engaged as trainer.

Dr. Wadsworth lectures on "Melaphyr, Diabase, Gabbro," etc., at the Museum of Comparative Zoology, today, at 2 P. M.

Ever since seventy-four's freshman year, with but three exceptions, the first freshman base-ball game with Yale has been played at New Haven. How long is this practice to continue?

Tickets for the Pudding theatricals can be had at 39 Matthews, from 12 to 1 P. M., today. Some tickets have also been placed on sale at Bartlett's.

The following groups will be photographed tomorrow (Thursday): 11 A. M., Beta Theta Pi; 12 M., Glee Club; 2 P. M., Phi Beta Kappa; 3 P. M., Art Club.

Mr. Walter Damon; '83, read a thesis on "The Lives and Writings of Sappho and Alcaeus, with Metrical Translations of Striking Passages," before the section in Greek 9 yesterday.

The Princeton nine boasts of four catchers (Harlan, c., Antrim, 2b., Wilson, s.s. and Shaw, r.f.) and three pitchers (Moffat, p., Wadleigh, c.f. and Edwards, 1b.). The last mentioned in each case will form the 'change battery.

The anonymous gift of $1,000 to the Political Economy department is to be all expended, by the terms of the gift, as salary for one additional instructor for one year. It is possible, however, that the gift may be repeated in ensuing years, so that the college can permanently retain two instructors.

An audience of about fifty listened to Mr. Pellew's Bowdoin prize essay on "Jane Austen and her Works" last night. Mr. Pellew gave a hasty sketch of Miss Austen's life with comments on her novels. He devoted considerable space to the influence which shaped her style and to the relation she bore to the other novelists of her time. The essay was listened to with interest throughout.
