The Yale faculty, at the solicitation of the Base-ball Association, has departed from its old custom and publishes the scheme for the annual examinations of the college some months in advance of the usual time. This is done in order that the managers of the nine may arrange games so as not to conflict with any examinations set down in this schedule. Commenting on this action the Yale News invidiously remarks that "such an evidence of a disposition on the part of the faculty to throw no unnecessary obstacles in the way of the college athletics is in marked contrast with the recent action of some other colleges." We feel sure that our esteemed contemporary is somewhat hasty in its generalizations. The faculties of few colleges would refuse such a reasonable request. Certainly Harvard's would not be guilty of so illiberal a policy.
