At Dartmouth bitter complaint is made of the system of excuses for cuts. "If a student is too ill to attend recitation," wails the Dartmouth, "he must crawl up (or get a friend to carry him on a shutter) and inform the professor of the fact, and obtain permission to crawl back and die."
