THE NINES.

The candidates for the 'Varsity and second nines have been requested by Capt. Crocker to remain in Cambridge during the April recess. Jarvis Field will in all probability be in good condition, and games have been arranged with the Beacons, Jamaicas and a picked nine from the vicinity. These games will furnish excellent practice for the 'Varsity, while the freshmen by playing with the second nine, will also obtain good practice. The following-named men will probably make up the 'Varsity in the April games: Winslow, '85, Smyth, '83, White, '84, pitchers; Crocker, '85, catcher; Smith, '86, 1b.; Coolidge, L. S., 2b.; Beaman, '85, 3b.; Baker, '84, s. s.; Lovering, '84, 1. f.; Allen, '86, r. f.; while for centre field there are numerous candidates. The diamond on Jarvis has been dug up preparatory to being rolled, and a few days of pleasant weather will put the field in fine condition.
