The Everett Athenaeum had a debate last evening on "Resolved, That the American system of government is better than the English."

Prof. F. W. Putnam is to deliver a course of lectures on "American Archaeology" before the Lowell Institute. The first lecture will be given this evening.

The second public meeting of the Harvard Total Abstinence League will be held in Sever 11, Friday evening, April 13, at 7.30. Address by Col. T. W. Higginson.

The third nine of the Hasty Pudding Club from '84 is as follows: Agassiz, Minturn, W. C. Sturgis, Kemp, Chapman, Le Moyne, Wyeth, Hutchinson, Bonsal.

The next theme in English 5 is due next Friday. Subject like that of the last one on any current topic. Another theme due a week from next Friday will have as its subject any suggestion in regard to the improvement of the university, either in its government or in the conduct of its students.

Prof. William Cooke has decided to examine his sections in Advanced German on articles 121, 122, 123, 124, 125, 126, 128, 131, 132, 133, and 134 in Jayne's Reader.

The second and last installment of an article by Prof. W. G. Sumner of Yale, designed for the guidance of those who wish to study political economy, is to appear in the Critic of March 17.

The prizes offered by the Archaeological Society for the winning team in the coming tug-of-war between the Law and Medical schools are on exhibition in Bartlett's window.

Freshmen will please leave examination books for classical lectures on the table in Sever 27 before 1 P. M. of Monday, March, 19th. Conditioned men leave books in Little's Block, No.6, before the same hour.

Prof. George T. Ladd of Yale College will give on consecutive days a course of eight lectures on "The Inspiration of the Scriptures," in the Upper Lecture Room of Divinity Hall, beginning March 21st, at 12 M.

With all its aberrations and inconsistencies a numerous constituency pray for a return of the ancient time-piece of Memorial Hall to its former position. The present representative of the dignity of time is sadly to seek in the qualities demanded for its office.
