In forbidding its students to take part in inter-collegiate athletics for the future the Amherst faculty has passed resolutions "deploring the present demoralizing tendency of inter-collegiate athletic games, expressing the conviction that the cost of these games in time, money and energy expended brings no compensating advantage, and decreeing that the college shall cease to take part in them, whenever the present engagements have been fulfilled, or after the close of the present collegiate year." The resolutions also express their cordial approval of games and athletic contests which take place on the students' home grounds.
