EDITORS HARVARD HERALD: The authorities of the library have always, and especially during the past year, been courteous and prompt in adopting suggestions of the students in the interest of improvement. I should like to propose one more improvement, and that is, that instead of selecting new books without reference to the students, the authorities allow each man in the university to suggest one book, or series of book, to be purchased when next any books are added to the library. As the students are most interested in the selection of their reading material there can be no objection to this plan. And if too many books were suggested in this way, of course the librarian would make what he considered the best selections from them; and as many books already in the library would probably be suggested through ignorance, the number of volumes proposed would be considerably reduced. The plan would be feasible only when books are to be purchased, and not in donations, of course.
