EDITORS HARVARD HERALD : In your article of Monday on fire-escapes it was mentioned that "the plan of permanent ladders, such as are now on Matthews and Holyoke, was objectionable in several ways. On the front of the buildings situated like Hollis, Stoughton and others the ladders would be ungainly-looking objects and give easy access to robbers in summer." These objections, however, do not apply to the middle entry of Thayer. A stationary ladder could be adjusted to the building on either side of the entry windows facing the chapel without destroying the harmony of structure of the hall, while students' rooms would be as safe from robbery as before.
