A SERENADE.

See the stars which cast their radiance O'er the lea,

See the moonbeams dance and quiver,

See the moon gleam on the river

See where she sits, queen forever, Calling thee.

Hear the evening breezes murmur Fair is she;

Hear then through the aspens sighing

Tell where fairies hid are lying,

Where the white swan sings in dying,-Calling thee.

Oh! if than shouklst design to harken To my plea

Speak ye voices of the even,

Pray that I may be forgiven,

When I raise my voice to heaven,-Calling thee.
