The Record offers a silver cup of the value of fifty dollars as a prize in the half-mile run. The winner of the cup this fall will have his name engraved upon it, and he will hold the cup until the spring games. The cup will be contended for at every meeting of the Athletic Association, and the names of the successive winners engraved upon it. The cup mast be won three times to become the absolute property of the winner.-[Yale Record.
For ten years the university of Zurich has received women on equal terms with man. There are at present in the university thirty-one female students (twenty in medicine, ten in philosophy, and one in chemistry), distributed as follows: seven from Germany, two each from Baden and Schiswig, and one each from Bavaria, East Prussia and Sondershausen. Thirty women have received the Doctor's degree-twenty-three in medicine and seven in philosophy.
The science and art of forestry or sylviculture is receiving merited attention in all great countries. Austro-Hungary, as is to be expected from its natural characteristics, possesses no less than nine schools of forestry, the most important being that of Vienna, with six professors, and 329 students.
