THE CLASS CREWS.

All the class crews, with the exception of the seniors, have begun regular work in the gymnasium. The freshmen are rowing in essentially the same order as that published two weeks ago, and are making rapid improvement under the efficient instruction of Col. Bancroft.

The sophomores are not all back from their vacations, but the crew is regularly at work. Yesterday the crew rowed in the following order: Stroke, Keith; 7, Homans; 6, E. D. Marsh; 5, J. E. Thayer; 4, Peterson; 3, Bowen; 2, Bemis; bow, Newhall. Of these Keith alone rowed last year. Capt. Storrow has not yet taken his place in the boat, and Hansen and Sutton are still absent. Gilman is trying for the University.

The juniors rowed yesterday as follows: Stroke, Bryant (capt.); 7, Bliss; 6, Goodwin; 5, Bacon; 4, Burr; 3, Agassiz; 2, Walker; bow, Kendall. Of these Bryant and Bliss rowed freshman and sophomore years, Goodwin freshman year, Bacon, Agassiz and Walker last year, while Burr and Kendall are new men. Hutchinson of last year's crew is trying for the 'Varsity, while LeMoyne, who rowed freshman year, will probably take a place in the class boat later in the year.

At a meeting of the senior crew last evening Mr. Cabot refused to accept the captaincy; consequently another meeting will be held next Wednesday evening, at which another captain will be elected. Hubbard, Binney and Coolidge of last year's crew, and Cabot of last year's 'Varsity, will probably row this year. The vacancies will be filled from the following men: Baxter, Sessions, Codman, Tingle, Jacobs and Ranney. The crew will probably commence regular work some time late next week.
