The chapel choir is so apt to be the butt of ignorant criticism and ancient witticisms, that it is no more than fair to give it a little of the praise which it has so justly earned. Its performances during the last week or two have been especially creditable both to itself and to its leader. This excellence is the more to be commended when we consider the difficulty of singing well so early in the morning and in such a vicious temperature as that which always pervades Appleton Chapel. A great part of the increase in popularity of the present chapel services over those of two years ago is due to the efforts of the choir under the efficient leadership of Mr. Locke. The improvement has been noticeable and must be highly satisfactory to the choir itself as well as to the entire college.
