The Hon. Lot M. Morrill died at Augusta, Me., yesterday, aged sixty-eight years.

President Arthur gave a dinner party in honor of General and Mrs. Grant in the rejuvenated executive mansion last night.

The City Bank of Jersey City closed its doors yesterday, the president, cashier and book-beeper of the institution having dishonestly appropriated about $50,000 of its funds to their own use.

The Newhall House, of Milwaukee, Wis., was completely destroyed by fire yesterday morning. Forty-five persons are known to be killed or missing, and a large number are seriously injured.
