In this connection we wish to speak again of the advisability of offering second year honors in other departments as well as in mathematics and classics. That men will devote themselves to independent and earnest study has been plainly shown by the number of candidates who present themselves each year for honors in these subjects. We think that the increased amount of work which would be done would justify the authorities in offering second years in other departments to men who do not feel able to take the time to try for final honors in these subjects.
