The freshmen have been afforded very fair practice by the picked nine lately, but by no means, we think, the practice they should have and which would be afforded them by a regularly organized nine. The need and possible uses of a consolidated nine are seen very plainly here, for, although the picked nine have been doing very excellent work, they by no means give the freshmen the kind of practice absolutely necessary to insure them fair chances in the coming games with Yale.
