The April examination in Freshman Latin this year will be called a two-hour examination, and will not be simply the usual "pass" examination. The instructors announce that the marks obtained will count in the annual scale, - not so much, however, as the Christmas or final marks. This change has been determined upon in consequence of a growing dissatisfaction with the present system of freshman spring examinations among both students and instructors. If an examination be held at all, and if the marking system must be kept in use, it would seem no more than just that credit be allowed for the work done in the examination by the students. If this is not done, there certainly seems to be small reason for holding an examination at all.
