A change in customs ought to be made by which the janitors would be at their lodges on Sundays, and during the evenings. If not there themselves, they ought to have some one there to perform their duties. It is absurd for them to receive from twenty-five to fifty dollars per year for the service of a room, when all that we see of that service is making fires and polishing shoes; they ought to do all errands within a reasonable distance, and should hold themselves in readiness at all times to do any service that may be required. They ought certainly not to be allowed to leave the buildings until after nine o'clock in the evening.
Although the price of the board at Memorial has been cut down the quality of the food still remains the same, in spite of the predictions of many who did not favor the plans of the directors. We are glad to see that complaints have not been frequent during the first week of the new regime, and hope that affairs will continue to look as prosperously after the vacation as they do at present.
