At the meeting of the Board of Directors at Memorial Hall yesterday at 1.30 P.M. (and at the adjourned meeting at 6.30 P.M.), the following resolutions were adopted. The vote on the 5th resolution, in regard to the steward's salary, stood, affirmative, 5; negative, 4.
I. Resolved, That in consideration of the fact that the estimated cost of board for March falls below $5, and that the directors will be acting in conformity with the suggestions of the committee of fifty in repealing the vote which provided that the hall should be closed on March 22d, therefore such vote is hereby repealed.
II. Resolved, That the steward be notified that in future the price of board at Memorial Hall, including head money, must be kept below $4.25 a week. That in order to accomplish this he is hereby to dispense with the present unnecessary variety of dishes at dinner, and while preserving the best quality of food, to have but one roast at dinner, and roast beef not more than four times a week. He shall, however, add to the order list for dinner roast beef, turkey and chicken at 20 cents, and mutton at 15 cents, and beef steak and mutton chops at 15 cents. These articles when not selected for the regular bill of fare shall be kept on hand ready to fill orders.
III That in the judgment of the directors the above arrangement will enable men who prefer the present board at five dollars to procure it for the same cost, while it will secure to those preferring lower rates and simpler fare a system which will fully meet their desires.
IV. Resolved, That the following circular, when printed, be presented for signatures by members of the committee of fifty :
"The undersigned agree to board at Memorial Hall from April 11 for two weeks longer, provided the weekly price of board is kept below $4,25, and provided that four hundred and twenty-five signatures are obtained to this agreement."
V. Resolved, That the salary of the steward be $2000 per annum, and that such increase take effect this year, provided he will consent to a forfeiture of $100 for each month in which he allows the board to exceed the average rate of $4,25 per week.
VI. That the corporation be requested to remit the payment of $500 by way of decrease in the debt of the association for the spring term of this year.
