At a meeting of the board of directors of the Harvard Co-operative Society, held on Tuesday evening, Mr. T. H. Cabot was elected on the board as a director from the freshman class.

Allen B. Seaman, a student, attempted to shoot Dr. Galusha Anderson, the president of the Chicago University, at Chicago, on Monday night. Dr. Anderson was uninjured. Seaman was expelled from the university, but has not yet been arrested.

The last meeting of the Harvard Union before the Christmas recess will be held next week, Thursday evening, Dec. 21. The question for discussion will be "Resolved, That suffrage in the United States should be limited by an educational qualification." The principal disputants are: Affirmative-F. H. Darling, '84; B. B. Ramage, '84. Negative-S. B. Pearmain, '83; C. F. Carrier, '85.

The spirit of the Yale press just before the Thanksgiving game was typical. We do not refer to the Yale News, which is of a decidedly lower tone than the sentiment of the college would authorize. We have nothing to say to its wretched personalities, which would imply that the referees of the Harvard-Yale and Princeton-Yale games were open to the suspicion of dishonesty. We do not deal in that kind of merchandise, and we hope that the News holds the exclusive copyright.-[Princetonian.

A committee of Harvard students are canvassing all the classes in order to obtain at least one hundred subscribers at $2 each for the organization of a reading room association. It certainly seems strange to us at Yale that the Harvard corporation should fail to furnish a good reading room.-[News.

Monday's Yale News contains a highly humorous account of a Harvard-Oberlin foot-ball match played in dress-suits and presided over by the Rev. Howard Crosby. We know of no stronger argument for the institution of a reading room here than the opportunity that would thus be given to the whole college to enjoy such good-natured wit in common which now we can only peruse in secret.
