Especial attention is called to the notice issued by the Glee Club, inviting candidates for membership in the club to present themselves on October 5, and again a week later. It is very necessary if the Glee Club is to retain during the coming year its former high reputation, that all good singers in the college present themselves at these trials and endeavor to obtain membership in the club. Aside from all other considerations it is known that membership in the Glee Club is an honor and a privilege to be highly prized; and to make its work effective this year it is necessary that the membership of the club be considerably enlarged. '85 has as yet given no members to the club, and all sophomores who can sing are especially urged to present themselves for trial. From '86 much in every way is expected this year, and not the least in the matter of singing. No freshman who has a good voice should feel any reluctance about presenting himself as a candidate for membership. It is much better that such men should join the club in their freshman year than to wait till later.
