Besides the Harvard Co-operative Society there are two other college co-operative unions existing in America, one at the University of California and one at Toronto University, Canada, both successful and flourishing.
Mr. Francis W. Dean, tutor in engineering in the Scientific School, has resigned, and the vacancy thus made in the school is supplied by the appointment of Mr. Frederick Bradford Knapp, a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1879). Mr. Knapp has held here, since the resignation of Mr. Waite, about the middle of last year, the position of superintendent of buildings. He will conduct the courses in surveying and in mechanical drawing.
Mr. F. C. Lister, for the past year Dr. Sargent's assistant at the Harvard Gymnasium, has been appointed superintendent of the Union Gymnasium in Boston in place of P. F. Ferris, resigned. Dr. Sargent also will act as medical director of the gymnasium. The gymnasium has been enlarged and refitted with apparatus of Dr. Sargent's invention.
