The freshmen are to be congratulated upon the success of the meeting Wednesday. The events as a rule were well filled and sharply contested. They have in Mr. Baker a phenomenal runner who will probably do much to bring credit upon his class in both the university and inter-collegiate games. Several other runners also showed up well, and with training will make hard men to beat. The jumping was very fair, although there is much room for improvement in this sport. It is to be hoped that all of the men who took part in this first meeting, as well as many others, will continue in active training throughout the winter. If they will do this, we feel sure that they will be amply repaid for their work, and will do credit to the class to which they belong.
