The thirtieth anniversary of Daniel Webster's death was commemorated yesterday at Franklin, N. H., where Webster was born.

There is a stringent money market at New Orleans. The city has called upon the government for financial aid to the amount of $2,000,000.

At one o'clock this morning the score in the Madison Square Garden walk stood as follows: Hughes, 252 miles ; Hazael, 244 ; Rowell, 240 ; Hart, 232.

The Gromoff lumber yard in St. Petersburg the largest in Europe, has been on fire since 3 o'clock yesterday morning. The fire is deemed incendiary, and is attributed to the Nihilists.

Senator Hoar presided at a meeting of the Worcester Republicans last night. Among the speakers were Hon. R. R. Bishop, Hon. W. W. Crapo and Gen. J. R. Hawley of Conn. Bishop discussed the candidacy of Butler, Gen. Hawley defended the river and harbor bill.
