We desire to call the attention of the college authorities to a communication signed '83, which we give in another column, with reference to the use of one of the cellars of Hollis as a mortar-trough. Wishing to ascertain for ourselves the facts of the case, we visited the cellar in question, and found it filled with sand, troughs, tools of all kinds, and, in the centre, an immense hogshead filled with foul looking water.
Now, apart from the annoyance caused to the occupants of the building in the manner described by the communicant, it would seem that the dampness necessarily engendered by damp sand, mortar and stagnant water, would be very detrimental to the health of those occupying the rooms over the cellar. This in itself calls for an immediate abatement of the nuisance.
